He warms my heart

Ever since Travis was a baby, he's had a sweet, silly way about him.

He says heart-melting things to me every day. Here's a sampling:

"Wow! I really love your shadow! It's great!"

"My muh-tar (guitar) shirt is clean! You washed it? And then dried it? And then took it out of the dryer? And then hung it up in my closet? Good job!" "You sure are cute!"

"You make me smile, Mama. Every time I see you, I get a big smile on my face. You just make me so, so happy." "Let's snuggle."

"You're my favorite."

Sowing

Last Saturday, we began our garden. Scott plotted out the beds, took the kids to Lowe's, and began sowing seeds.

Most of our vegetables will be planted soon, so we're starting them in paper towels. Our flowers and herbs need to go in a bit later; Scott created miniature greenhouses for those. We check the plants every evening. Jamin & Travis are fascinated by the germination process. Libby would rather goof off. Here's to a great 2012 harvest!

Pot o' Goldmine

Each month, Jamin has a family home project for school. His March project was a leprechaun trap. We learned that leprechauns are attracted to shiny & sparkly things and that they often disobey signs. We could use either a tissue box or shoe box to construct our trap.

After two failed models, we created the "Pot o' Goldmine." The leprechaun is drawn to the sparkly green shamrock and the promise of gold. Then he sees the sign and decides he must climb that ladder. Once he climbs on top of the gold roof, he sees gold coins in the mine chute and jumps in. Mr. Leprechaun falls into the net and gets trapped. Jamin can then pull him out by lifting the top part of the box. Tah-dah!

Libby's rules of fashion

1. Get dressed the instant you wake up in the morning.

2. Wear as many accessories as possible. (Note: this photo was taken before our binky-desposal Build-a-Bear trip.)

3. Raid Mom's stash of 90s jewelry any chance you get.

4. Change shoes at least 3 times each day.

5. Cover your diapers with underwear (whether over or under your clothes is up to you).

6. Pajamas are acceptable day wear, so long as you've changed from the pair you wore the previous night.

7. When it comes to prints, always choose something with letters/words (aka "ABCDEFGs") first. Animals should be chosen second, then flowers or polka dots (aka "circles") third.

8. Summer clothes should be worn in the dead of winter.

9. Never leave in hair bows, clips, or headbands for more than 20 minutes.

10. No matter what you're doing, always look fabulous.
