...that our baby girl looks so much older with her hair in a ponytail?

Thumbs up for the circus!

Jamin won tickets to the Shriner's circus at day camp. On Friday, I took the boys. (It started at Libby's bedtime, so we opted to have Scott stay home with her.)

We got there early to secure good seats and load the kids up on sugar.

Before the show started (and at intermission), they had a carnival set up. Since I was the only adult in our group-- and didn't want to lose our seats or our children-- we just watched the fun. Sorry, boys.

But once the circus started, Jamin and Travis were riveted. They loved the animals, the acrobats, and the crazy stunts. Jamin also liked rocking out to the music!

Oh, summer... the show got over at 9, but it was still light and warm enough to enjoy the Grove fountain for a moment. Bliss.

The verdict?

Travis: Thumbs up for the circus!

Jamin: This was the most fun ever!

"You broke the rules!"

I cut Travis' hair last week. He held very still at first.

 

 Then I started to sense we were in for trouble when he stuck pieces of cut hair back on his head. "I want my hair long again," he stated.

 After we finished, Travis looked in the mirror. He frowned. "You broke the rules! You gave me a bad hair cut!"

 "But Travis," I assured. "You look so handsome."

"My face looks handsome. My hair does not."

Father's Day 2012

We kicked off Father's Day on Saturday when we gave Scott his gifts. As part of his present, the boys filled out surveys about their dad. 

They each had some gut-busters, but my favorite for both was the answer to "What makes Daddy the best?" Travis said, "When he makes dinner." (Scott cooks these simple, delicious meals the kids love... and I can never get right.) Jamin responded, "He plays baseball with me almost every day." (He does. It's incredible.) I'm eager to hear what Libby says next year; the list could be very long with how she has Daddy wrapped around her tiny finger. Personally, I think he's the best dad because he's a great teacher, a wonderful example, and an amazing husband.

On Sunday, we had a big dinner and got the dads of the family together to play.

 

Too bad Papa was busy playing in Island Park! We missed you!

Summer so far

Summer break is now in full swing! The past couple of weeks have brought...

-A cousins' trip to the zoo:

 

-A checkup at the dentist:

 -Day camp for Jamin:

 

-Garden work:

-Walks, playtime outside, the library's summer reading program, baseball with Daddy, outings to the park, lazy days, crazy days, and Father's Day crafts.
